Our Newcastle Pioneers

Please meet our Green Street Newcastle Pioneers.

The Green Street Pioneers Newcastle initiative is a programme dedicated to helping businesses become more environmentally sustainable. We’re working with 25 independent retail and hospitality businesses in the heart of Newcastle East in collaboration with BIPC Newcastle to help them become greener and build a sustainable community.

These businesses are all committed to making their business more sustainable and offering a more planet-friendly experience for their customers. When they have signed up to the manifesto below they will display the Green Street-branded window sticker, so that customers can more easily choose to support planet-friendly businesses.

The Green Street Pioneers initiative is proudly supported by the Newcastle East High Streets Programme, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The North of Tyne Combined Authority is leading the way in making this happen.

The Green Street Manifesto

We are working towards making our business and our high street more sustainable and planet friendly, together with other independent businesses.

We are reducing our energy consumption by using more energy efficient equipment, changing our behaviours and monitoring our energy usage.

We are taking steps to prevent, recycle and reuse as much of our waste as possible.

We are reducing the amount of packaging we use and pass on to our customers.

We are eliminating as much single use plastic as possible from our business.

We are actively exploring stocking locally sourced and more sustainable products and services for our customers.

We are sharing our learnings and collaborating closely with our suppliers for a greener supply chain.

We will inspire and make it easier for our customers and our team to make sustainable changes and become more planet friendly.
