2025 UnderOne D&I Awards: We’re Finalists!

Green Street is a finalist in the Social Impact and Community Engagement category at the 2025 UnderOne Diversity & Inclusion Awards!

This nomination means a lot to us. Not just as a team, but as a reflection of the brilliant high street businesses and community organisations we work with every day. From butchers and bike repairers, to your local chippy, we’re proud to support a wide variety of independent businesses in the North on their journey to becoming more sustainable.

Why it matters

Green Street is all about making real, practical sustainability support accessible. We believe that sustainability is something that everyone should be able to take action on. That means no jargon, avoiding big spreadsheets full of carbon data,  just simple actions that benefit both the businesses and the planet.

Whether that’s upgrading old equipment, reducing single-use packaging, or improving insulation, our aim is to help businesses make changes that are both good for the planet and financially sound.

So far we’ve worked in Bradford, Newcastle, and now Manchester engaging with amazing organisations along the way. These range from using Borro cups with social enterprises like Grounded MCR CIC to working with large scale cultural organisations like Ramadan Tent Project, where Borro helped 100+ volunteers and 800+ attendees achieve low-waste Open Iftar events.

A few kind words:

“Green Street has provided a sense of support for us. It can get quite lonely being a sole trader. And to be able to talk to other businesses and share good practice gives a sense of hope that you’re all trying to make yourselves better for the planet.”
— Jess, Curvy Sounds

“It was a real joy to work with Green Street. The whole experience was knowledgeable, practical and brought joy to many guests who embraced the concept of ‘hosting with responsibility.’”
— Waseem Mahmood, Ramadan Tent Project

What’s next?

Winners will be announced soon. But in the meantime, we’re continuing to support brilliant businesses to make meaningful environmental changes that are better for business, and working to expand our impact even further.

Thanks to everyone we’ve worked with so far. This nomination is for you too.
